Do you want to add a great looking dresser to your bedroom?  If you do, you might want to look for a dresser made out of pine.  There are a number of advantages to owning a pine dresser, and the cost of purchasing one really isn’t that much more than buying any other type of hardwood bedroom furniture item.

Pine dressers look great.  You can, of course, have them stained or finished in a way that they match the rest of your bedroom furniture.  This makes for a very nice cohesive set, especially if all of your other furniture is made from pine as well.  If you have a cottage or lodge that you’d like to do in pine bedroom furniture, you may want to leave it unfinished.  The natural look of a pine dresser, bed frame, wardrobe, and chest of drawers looks great in a cabin or other home out in the wilderness.  You can, of course, always have your pine dresser painted white if you want to go with a white bedroom suite.

In addition to looking great, pine dressers are also very durable.  Like oak and other hardwood, when you purchase a pine dresser, you know you’re purchasing something that will last for quite some time.  While it can get nicks and scratches like any type of wood can, it’s much more resistant than chipboard and other cheaper materials.  You may, in fact, see a number of pine dressers in yard sales and at second hand shops.  These dressers will usually be in pretty good condition despite the fact that they’ve been used for years.

So what kind of pine dresser do you need?  Most have several long drawers on them.  Some of them come with a mirror that attaches to the back, but not all of them do.  Often, the mirror is optional so you don’t have to attach it (or even buy it) if you don’t want to.  Some of the newer pine dressers are actually designed with the idea of putting a television on top of them.  They aren’t really that different from traditional dressers—they may be slightly wider or have places to attach bracers for a flat screen television in place of a mirror.

As far as cost goes, you’ll find that solid pine dressers are priced about the same as any really nice dresser.  They’re going to be more expensive than what you’d find in most department stores.  They’re much better quality than those assembly-required dressers, but they’re going to cost three or four times as much.  Be prepared to pay for your pine dresser, but also realize that you won’t need to buy another dresser for years, if ever.
