13 Aug 2009If you’re looking for new bedroom furniture, you’ll find that there are many different and distinct styles. One of the newest styles is modern bedroom furniture. This furniture has a very distinct and different look from the more traditional bedroom suites. While a full set of modern furniture can include things like a chest of drawers, a wardrobe, a dresser, and other items, it has its own look that will give your bedroom a very different type of appeal.
A traditional bed usually includes a bed frame, a headboard, a footboard, box springs, and a mattress. Most people get a bedside table or two as well. However, modern beds look very different. The most immediate difference is that there’s no raised bed frame. Most modern beds are very low to the ground. In fact, they look like they’re sitting on a low platform instead of a frame. Also, the frame usually sticks out around the mattress, unlike traditional beds. There are generally no box springs with modern bed platforms, although you can use them. They will simply raise your bed up a bit more. If you’re used to a high bed, going from it to a modern bed will be quite a change at first.
Since your bed will be much lower than before, you’ll need to look for a modern bedside table to go with it. However, the good news is that a lot of popular bed frames actually have bedside table attached to them. The platform simply extends out farther up by the top of the bed to create a table. This means you might not need to purchase individual bedside tables. If the platform doesn’t have attached tables, you can usually buy bedside tables that match it.
Many modern beds also include a nice padded headboard. This is great if you enjoy reading or using your laptop in bed. Some modern bed headboards actually look almost like the back of a sofa. These headboards are really comfortable and great for those who watch television or read in bed. On the other hand, if you don’t like these types of headboards, you can usually find a more traditional headboard to use with your modern bed. Some modern beds don’t even need a headboard—they look fine without one. Most modern beds do not have footboards attached, although there are a few designs that do.
Modern bedroom furniture may look very different from traditional furniture, but that doesn’t mean it’s made out of different material. Oak, pine, and many other traditional woods can be used in modern furniture. You can find beds in dark stains, white, and even modern beds that look unfinished. It all depends on what looks best in your bedroom. As far as pricing goes, modern furniture isn’t any more expensive than a really nice set of traditional bedroom furniture, so you don’t have to worry about spending more money for this look.
There are many items of bedroom furniture available online including pine bedside tables, wardrobes, chest of drawers and dressing tables. Many come as Pine but others may come made from Oak or even Beech.
