8 Jul 2009There's so many different mirrors available to buy. Due to years of economic growth, furniture has boomed, including landscape of mirrors. Thanks to the world wide web, there is a massive variety of mirrors to choose from. You can get a mirror that's framed in cherry, oak or bamboo. Demisting or illuminating mirrors with soft glow. Infinity mirrors or illuminated bathroom mirrors. Choosing the right mirror in this day and age is difficult.
First, decide how your mirror needs to be utilised. Would you like the mirror to illuminate? Should the mirror magnify or show you from different angles? Then make sure to decide where you want it to hang. Make sure to choose carefully where you'll hang your , considering light sources from around the room. It may shine light into your eye when the sun reaches a certain point in the sky, making you uncomfortable, or reflect onto a TV screen or computer monitor while you're at work ruining it.
After this, it's time to think about placing the mirror. Could it bee too heavy? Screwing mirror fixings into plasterboard can have disastrous effects, days or even weeks after you think you've sucessfully hung your new mirror. It's always best to hang mirrors on solid walls for stability. With higher priced mirrors it is a good idea to hire a professional to hang your mirror up for you. They will have the right tools, and fittings, and not to mention lots of experience.
Mirrors that are going to hang in childrens bedrooms are always worth careful consideration. Hanging a mirror out of reach of younger children doesn't protect the mirror from projectiles such as pillows or tennis balls. It's a good idea to buy an acrylic safety mirror for a child instead of glass. Their reflection will still be of great quality.
Antique wood framed mirrors can sometimes have black blotches on the reflective glass. This shows that the silver that was applied to the glass is damaged. It can be easy to replace but takes away from the character of the mirror and can reduce the value and take away the mirror's authenticity.
